Junior Produce Show

The weather was glorious and visitors to the junior gardens last week were astonished to see what has been achieved over the last year or so. Not only were the young gardeners keen to show their work but they also impressed with their knowledge and enthusiasm.

The young gardeners have been working towards the RHS School Gardening Awards and the garden tours were to enable them to achieve their Level 5.

The recent addition of beekeeping has been very exciting. Very few schools in the country offer this.

Visitors were given a cream tea and a chance to look at the produce (all from their school gardens), the art and craft and cookery entries to the Show, all arranged by the Dulverton Gardening Club. There has been huge support for the School Gardening from many sources and Dulverton Gardening Club is rightly proud of the young gardeners.

Mrs Hatch, Headteacher, said, “It was a wonderful day and I couldn’t be prouder of all the children. They shared their enthusiasm and knowledge with such confidence. I would like to express my gratitude to the Dulverton Gardening Club and local businesses for all your support to develop this important part of our curriculum and for all the community members who took the time to visit.”
